Woven Together for God's Harvest
November invites us to gather what God has grown and place it on the table.
Harvest Blooms is a five-hour Blooming Grace Retreat where Scripture, a shared harvest soup, woven baskets, dried flowers, prayer, reflection, and song come together around thanksgiving and discipleship.
We have blossomed. We have rested. Through God's care and the help of others, we have grown stronger. Now the seeds within the fruit of our lives are ready to be shared.
The harvest is not meant to end with us.
What You'll Experience
Harvest Soup
Everyone brings an ingredient and cooks together. Sausage, Rotel, kidney beans, onion, zucchini, summer squash, cauliflower, carrots, butter, and spices become one nourishing meal. Guests may also bring bread or cornbread, butter or jelly, drinks, salad ingredients, sour cream, chives, shredded cheese, crackers, or hot sauce. No one ingredient makes the soup; every gift matters. Sharing the cooking, table, and cleanup turns hospitality into discipleship.
A Woven Wall Basket
As reeds cross, support, and strengthen one another, the basket becomes a picture of the friends in Mark 2 who carried a man to Jesus. The weaving reminds us that faith was never meant to be carried alone. Together we form something strong enough to hold fruit and offerings for others.
A White Harvest Pumpkin with Dried Flowers
Each guest hot-glues dried flowers, grain, and natural elements onto a white faux pumpkin. The different flowers represent lives shaped by different seasons; gathered together, they become one beautiful offering. The white pumpkin represents the pure, unblemished love of Christ that holds and seals our shared story.

2 Timothy 2:2
And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.
Discipleship is a living chain: someone shared Christ with us, and we are called to faithfully share Him with someone else. Mark 2:1-5 shows friends carrying another person to Jesus. Ruth 2:17-18 shows Ruth gathering and sharing what remained with Naomi. These passages remind us that spiritual maturity is not self-sufficiency. We still need one another, and the strength God has grown in us can help younger roots survive the next storm.

The Keepsakes You'll Take Home
The Woven Basket
In Mark 2, one man reached Jesus because friends were willing to carry him, climb together, open the roof, and lower him into Christ's presence. Every strand in your basket depends on another. No strand carries the harvest alone. As you weave, consider who has helped carry your faith and whose faith God may be asking you to strengthen. The finished basket can hold flowers, fruit, prayers, or offerings, reminding you that discipleship is friendship woven with purpose.
The White Floral Pumpkin
Ruth gathered grain and brought what remained home to Naomi. In the same way, the beauty and wisdom God grows through our seasons are gifts to be shared. Each dried flower has changed from its fresh form, yet it still carries beauty and testimony. Together the flowers represent varied stories of blossoming, resting, surviving storms, and becoming strong. The white pumpkin represents the pure, unblemished love of Christ beneath and around every story.
No artistic experience is needed. Both activities are designed for beginners.

You do not have to pretend every prayer has been answered or every storm has passed. Grief, weariness, gratitude, and hope may sit at the same table. This retreat does not rush pain or demand a polished testimony. It makes room to receive care while recognizing the strength God has already grown in you.

Supplies Not Included
For the shared meal, guests bring their assigned soup ingredient or an optional accompaniment such as bread, cornbread, butter, jelly, drinks, salad ingredients, soup toppings, crackers, or hot sauce. Guests may bring their own cookware and cooking utensils. Adults bringing meat may cook it themselves.
For retreats away from Blooming Meadows Farm, participants or hosts provide their own hot-glue guns and matching glue sticks. Blooming Meadows uses its glue pots for retreats held at the farm.
The host also provides ordinary kitchen equipment, serving ware, cleanup supplies, and any required music or performance license for My House Is Full (But My Field Is Empty).
